The Master of the Impossible Crime, Steve Levi’s Corragion Award “for audacity in writing” was specifically created for Carl Douglass.

Before you go off in the heat of the day without your blanket, consider the first definition of audacity: boldness, daring, fearlessness, intrepidity, bravery, courage, courageousness, valor, valorousness, heroism, pluck, recklessness; adventurousness, enterprise, dynamism, spirit, mettle, confidence; informal guts, gutsiness, spunk, grit.

None of Carl’s more than 30 published novels even come close to the more popular audacity definition of impudence, insolence, bad manners, or rudeness. Far from it!

Carl says, “The difference making the difference about my books is that I expect my intelligent and curious readers to come away with a new perspective with a solid basis in fact.” He expects his readers to learn something — usually something important — something different.

Consequently, the onus is on the reader, not the author. If you want to be a reader of Carl’s books you must be intelligent and curious. If you’re not intelligent and curious don’t bother picking up one of his books — you’ll be grossly disappointed if you do.

Carl Douglass’ intelligent and curious readers know him as, Neurosurgeon Turned Author Writes With Gripping Realism. It could also be said: Retired Yard Maintenance Worker, Teamster, Logger, Brig Doctor, Deep Diving Officer, Mental Hospital Medical Officer, General Surgeon, Martial Arts Teacher, and Award-Winning Author Writes With Gripping Realism.

If you’re curious you can test your intelligence by reading one of Carl’s books: You can’t fake being one of Carl’s ideal readers. To qualify to read a Douglass novel you must be intelligent and curious. You may test yourself by reading one of Carl’s books: https://bit.ly/32GOWQz.
