Faith and the Front Porch: A Light in the Darkness
By: Rev. Grace Lin
This morning, as I sipped my coffee on the front porch, the world felt heavy. News of ongoing conflicts, economic uncertainties, and social unrest filled the headlines. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, to question where hope can be found in such times.
Yet, as I watched the sunrise over Cedar Valley, I was reminded of the resilience of our community. Neighbors helping neighbors, families supporting one another, and the unwavering spirit of kindness defining our town.
In the face of global challenges, we must remember the power of local action. A kind word, a helping hand, a shared meal — these simple acts can create ripples of hope extending far beyond our immediate surroundings.
Let us not be paralyzed by the magnitude of the world’s problems. Instead, let’s focus on what we can do here and now. By embodying compassion, practicing empathy, and fostering unity, we can be a light in the darkness for those around us.
As we navigate these uncertain times, may we find strength in our faith, comfort in our community, and hope in our shared humanity.
